It Happened One Autumn (Wallflowers #2)

I finished reading It Happened One Autumn by Lisa Kleypas this week. It was a fun read...ever since reading Secrets of a Summer Night, I was looking forward to reading Lillian and Westcliff's story. This book didn't disappoint me at all and I have to say I like it much better than the first in the wallflowers series. Lillian was the firey, hot headed, does-whatever-she-wants-to kind of a girl. And I also like the fact that when she was in trouble, she was able to hold her own and did not wait to be "rescued". Westcliff was an interesting character as well...for me he was not the makes-me-weak-in-the-knees hero. I wish that his character had developed more because I did feel that his falling in love with Lillian was rather abrupt...That being said, I really like this book! Also, I really like the fact that Sebastian was introduced in this book ;) 

I have already started reading Devil in Winter (Wallflowers #3) which is Evie and Sebastian's story. Review coming up soon!

Also, I have decided to buy a Kindle for myself this December...eeeee can't wait!

The Truth About Forever & Book Haul

So I finally finished The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen. I gave it a rating of 4 on a scale of 5. School started recently so I have been very busy and didn't really have much time to read the book, so it was read in parts and pieces. Macy's character and her struggle for perfection is something I can relate to excluding her loss. But really, it doesn't take a loss in your life to think about forever and what it holds for you. I often found myself wondering the same things that Macy would think about. Jason's character is one of those characters who happens to show up only in two scenes and has a really big role in it all nevertheless. Wes and Macy's relationship was something which developed very slowly, and while I could have absolutely died at more gestures of affection, I do feel that the one kiss did mean a lot. Throughout the book Dessen had many metaphors and analogies which got me thinking in a very good way. Monica's character was a tad bit exaggerated in my opinion. Overall it was a nice summer read..which I read in fall. haha. Wes was a total hottie too with his whole tortured artist routine :)

I ordered some books on Amazon.ca, which now has a minimum purchase requirement of $25 in order to take advantage of the free super saving shipping!! This is a huge difference from the $39 that it used to be before. Maybe this minimum purchase requirement will also keep me in budget next time? I just can't wait till Amazon.ca also introduces the Kindle on its website, hopefully before Christmas? Because either way I have decided to treat myself to the Kindle :) I mean as much as I would love to have an iPad, I just can't justify spending that much money on it at this point in my life.

Talk about going on a tangent there, anyway I got 10 books in total, more paperbacks than harcovers but here is the list:

I definitely prefer paperbacks for their lower prices but hardcovers have the most awesomest covers/designs. So I can never really decide which one I prefer.

Rafa & Pico *sa-woon*

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you, Rafa & Pico. Hahaha. The pictures say a lot :P Oh and the pink is SO manly ;) I am bummed Rafa lost his semifinal match against Garcia-Lopez in Thailand. I mean he had such a high percentage win this year! Good thing I didn't stay up late last night, something I was very tempted to do. Rafa's earnings this year have been the 4th highest of all time, the first three positions all going to Rogelio Federer. All in all, it has been a great year for Rafa...I am so proud of him :) The man is just prefect!

McMaster has a Quidditch Team

And so do many other universities. I just got to know today...like seriouslyy..I am sooo excited to hear this!! But sad at the same time. I mean I love Harry Potter and the fact that a fictional game is now a real game, that is just awesome! But my school doesn't have a Quidditch Team. Boo freaking hoo!

How excited is everyone for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows?? :D :D :D 

Today has been a rather productive day filled with lots of learning about neurons, synapses, neurotransmitters, saltatory transmission. But there is still so much to do! Everytime I have a test (or two tests in this case) I end up doing anything BUT study. Life is really unfair =/

Terrible Tuesdays

Well today is Terrible Tuesday. Something which started when I was describing my friend's terrible Tuesday timetable, but now I have gone ahead and generally started calling Tuesdays terrible. Because really when are Tuesdays not terrible? In sophomore year I had the worst schedule on Tuesdays of all my college life! Today is no different. I was at home studying for Abnormal Psychology and it has been raining all day. I do not hate rain, believe me after having lived in Pakistan where it is always so hot rain is always a welcome change. But the rain in September here in Canada brings nothing but coldness and sadness for me. Anyway with everything gray and gloomy outside, I decided to write this blog post to vent my hate for Tuesdays. I mean I have a test next week..and guess what day its on? Tuesday. Yes, this is all the proof I need to declare Tuesday from now on as Terrible Tuesday.

If there is anything that can get in my way of declaring Tuesdays as terrible that would be Glee!!! Glee is on tonight! Lo and behold it is the much publicized Britney Spears episode! Also John Stamos (Uncle Jesse from Full House) is going to be in it! To be honest I am pretty excited to see it, but I am afraid with all the hype it is getting it might not live up to my expectations since I am expecting something pretty epic. But I know many people who hated the Madonna episode...which I personally loved..so we shall see. So with Fox changing the days for Glee from Wednesday to Tuesday this year, it can only be seen by me as a clear indication that God truly doesn't want me to have a Terrible Tuesday :)

Lets see if this Tuesday redeems itself.

So simple, yet so difficult…

Yes!! I figured out how to put the Goodreads widget on here..phew..that took long, but it was just so simple! All you have to do is...get the html Goodreads widget code and put into the "HTML/JAVA" gadget seen here under the design tab. Yep, it was that easy. That just got me thinking, how sometimes things are so simple but we get so stressed out over nothing, at least I do. I just need to relax sometimes, something I rarely let myself do. Wish I was like my sister in this regard, who is very laid back and doesn't let anything phase her.

Anyway, this is just a quick update post because I really don't have much to say tonight. In terms of reading I didn't get much done :( both school and fun-reading wise. Hoping to remedy this situation as the night goes by.

The Iron King & Other Matters

Ok I give up. I tried to put pretty little Goodreads widgets on the blog but nope that is something I will just have to learn at another time. Right now I have decided to write this blog post in hopes of committing to this blog *fingerscrossed* Yes I have told myself before that I will write here more often but it just doesn't seem to happen, this time I am hoping to prove my own self wrong!

Moving on..I finished reading The Iron King by Julie Kagawa last week. I was very excited to read this book after having heard so many great things about it. I can't say I fell in love with it, but it was a nice read. To me it felt a lot Alice-In-The-Wonderland-esque in the beginning, but it got better as the book progressed. That being said, I loved Julie's description of the Summer/Winter/Iron Courts, very descriptive and detailed.  For me the lack of development of the characters was the biggest let down. One thing I can't stand is a dumb heroine, while I wont go as far as to say Meghan's character was dumb, it wasn't very bright either. And, Ash, oh Ash, you had the potential to be so coldly sexy in your coldness, but nah, it didn't happen for me. His character, to me, felt like it needed to be introduced earlier or in order for their relationship to develop. This late introduction of character led to a rather rushed romance. My favorite character was Robin Goodfellow, haha, he was rather funny with his tricks! The cover of the book is very pretty as well. So if you are really into faeries, and are looking for a nice quick read, I would say go ahead read this book :)

So I went to the mall today to go shop, but I got really tired and didn't want to slow down my sister in her quest for the perfect camping outfit, so I just went to Coles and bought two books..like I really need to buy any more books! My own-it-but-haven't-read-it pile is humangous! Anyway, I was soo tempted to buy The Clockwork Angel by Cassie Clare but it was for 22.50 Canadian Dollars! :O So I resister the urge (will order from Amazon.ca) and went ahead and bought Beautiful Darkness by Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl and also The Maze Runner by James Dashner, both in paperback!

Currently Reading: The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen. It is just so sad and a slow read. But still interesting and very well written so far.

In other news, it has gotten turn-on-the-heat cold in Toronto! :(
